How to Win in a Lost Argument

I find the article, "How to Win in a Lost Argument", from "Today's Daily Encounter" interesting....

"If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."
- Romans 12: 18 (NIV)

Let's face it, some people can be very difficult to live with and/or get along with. Some are impossible. However, here's an interesting tip giving one way to resolve a quarrel:

According to Ludwig Bemelmans in The Best of Bits & Pieces, "A book issued by the Army years ago gave all manner of advice to noncommissioned officers. It even tells how to make men who have quarreled become friends again. The men are put to washing the same window, one outside, the other inside. Looking at each other, they soon have to laugh and all is forgotten. It
works; I have tried it. "

So the next time you have a quarrel with your spouse, try washing the windows! Admittedly, this would be easier said than done. It is extremely rare for Joy and me to argue over anything but when we do have a difference, neither one of us can rest until we get together, talk it over, apologize where we have been wrong, and put things right.

In a quarrel always aim for a "win-win" outcome.

Suggested prayer:
"Dear God, whenever I am in an argument please help me to know what to say and what not to say. When I am in the wrong, help me to be humble enough to admit it, apologize, and make things right. And if perchance, I am not in the wrong, help me to be humble enough not to rub in 'my rightness,' and gracious enough to forgive the one who has hurt me as you so freely forgive me whenever I sin and do wrong. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully in Jesus' name, amen."

Mission Possible

I came across an article,"Mission Possible" when I was trying to develop the mission statement of the new company I am working for. I like the title as well as its content. It makes developing mission statement easy and also helps to fire up my tired countenance.

The article also came very timely, as I'll be going for our mission trip again tomorrow. It was quite a while since my last trip and I am looking forward to go again.

Yes, it shall be MISSION POSSIBLE! :D

I found the following banners with very common questions that people asked. The answers to them are simple, yet not many people realize...

What Works Do To You

I find the above image taken from Prince's post, When You Work Too Long, very comical.

Thank God that I don't have a chance to become "stupid", or an "idiot", or "totally lost", or "converted". :P

Beauty For The Soul

Life is so short,
so, think what is good,
speak what is kind,
and try to live your best,
then this world will be bright and beautiful to you

When money is lost nothing is lost.
When health is lost something is lost.
When character is lost everything is lost.

Live like a candle,
which burns itself,
but gives light to others.

Impose your own terms upon life.
If you don't you will have to accept the terms of others.

Look backwards with gratitude,
upwards with confidence
and forward with hope.

When you truly care for someone,
you don't look for faults,
you don't look for answers,
you don't look for mistakes.

Instead you fight the mistakes,
you accept the faults,
and you overlook the excuses.

Have a stunning day!

- unknown

My Thoughts:

Someone email me the above poem. I have been practicing...

Live like a candle,
which burns itself,
but gives light to others.

When you truly care for someone,
you don't look for faults,
you don't look for answers,
you don't look for mistakes.

Instead you fight the mistakes,
you accept the faults,
and you overlook the excuses.

Man Of Substance

When a friend email me the testimony of the man without limbs but full of substance, I was so touched after reading it. Nick Vujicic may be physically disadvantaged in all sense, yet his faith and trust in God is so strong that it puts all of us to shame, who are physically blessed. His inner beauty of character, through Christ, is more commendable and lasting than the physical attractions we tend to pursue.

Our inconveniences or difficulties pale in comparison with that of Nick Vujicic. We need to learn from him to be men and women of character and substance through Christ.

You may watch the complete video and how Nick overcame his disability at Hour of Power.

What happen to Dell's Higher Standard?

The attempt by John, Dell's customer advocate, to help has been dampened by what Dell Singapore technical support staff did to me today. I am getting more and more frustrated with Dell's after sales service. Let me tell you what happened...

Two days ago (Mon), Dell Singapore staff called to say they will send an 'engineer' to my home to check on my laptop regarding my complaints. The 'engineer' will upgrade my RAM if necessary.

So yesterday, the 'engineer' came to my place and confirmed that my laptop is really running very slowly even w/o installing any other software (I have not even installed MS Office). He then replaced my 2x 512Mb RAM with 2x 1Gb RAM and its performance improved slightly. I asked him if this is a free upgrade, he said "yes". I was happy for a moment, thinking that at least Dell did something right for its customers. That aside, I had to teach this 'engineer' how to download image from yahoo. I was very surprised that as an engineer, he said he couldn't remember how to download pictures from the net.

Surprisingly, I received a call from Dell this morning saying that I have to pay for the RAM if I want to keep them, otherwise he will take it back. I was extremely angry hearing that. On top of all the complaints I had, now Dell gives me reasons to add more. Dell has wasted my leave to attend to its 'engineer', delayed my time in using my brand new laptop, and it is going to waste my leave again to come and dismantle the RAM? Why should I be paying for the the RAM replacement which is covered under Dell's complete cover warranty?

What happen to Dell's Higher Standard?

Dell's success is built on a foundation of personal and professional integrity. We hold ourselves to standards of ethical behavior that go well beyond legal minimums. We never compromise these standards and we will never ask any member of the Dell team to do so either. We owe this to our customers, suppliers, shareholders and other stakeholders. And we owe it to ourselves because success without integrity is essentially meaningless.

I have never regretted for buying anything so far, but I broke my record this time. If you are thinking of a buying a computer, don't buy Dell if you don't want hell.
